L.O.L. 249, Broxburn
'Pentland', This Lodge now sitting in Broxburn was originally opened in the
1870's in Mid Calder by Ulstermen who had come to seek employment in both the
shale mines and oil industries which were gaining momentum at that time.
Transferring to Broxburn at the turn of the century, the Lodge continued to
flourish, served well through the years by the Bros. McConnell - James,
Robert and George - all who served as W.M. Bro. Jack Carson, H.D.C.G.M. has
also served the Lodge well, also being instrumental in bringing about the
inception of the County Grand Lodge of the East. Present WM is Bro. Andrew
Pratt
L.O.L 44, Broxburn
"Hearts of Oak". Taking their name from an early Ulster group
of Protestants, this lodge was founded under it's present warrant 1876 but
has existed since the 1850s. It has been served well by many prominent
members including present County Grand Treasurer Bro. Russell McLean. The
Present WM is Bro. William Shanks Snr..
L.O.L. 178, Pumpherston
This lodge, "Rising Sons of Carson, Pumpherston" was opened on 17th
March, 1960 in Mid Calder under their original name of "Almondell"
Lodge, with "Protestant Boys" being added in 1971. The lodge moved
from Mid Calder and eventually settled in East Calder where it sat until
2004. In 2004 they moved to Pumpherston and are now one of the fastest
growing lodges in Scotland attracting many new members from the "new town" of Livingston. They can now boast a large lodge, their own
hall and a Lodge of the year trophy!. The present WM is Bro. Jim Reid
L.O.L. 290 Livingston
"Somme Memorial" This new lodge was constituted in Deans on 6th June 2009 by both existing members of the order and several new recruits. The first new lodge to open in the area for some time which shows how much the othe Orange Institution has grown in our area. The lodge has a good mixture of both older and younger memebers and the present WM is Bro. Tommy Davidson.
L.L.OL. 46, Broxburn
'Onward and Upward', ladies Lodge in Broxburn since August 1914.
L.L.OL.260, Pumpherston
'Elizabeth Finlayson Memorial'. This ladies Lodge opened on 31st March, 1979
under the auspices of District LOL 26, Taking members from LLOL 46 and LLOL
239(Blackburn). The Lodge transferred to
District 31 in 1983.
